The recorded webinar and presentation slides from our Eating for Local Food Literacy in Ontario Schools are now available!

This webinar was the second in our Local Food Literacy in Ontario Schools webinar series.  Recorded on February 22, 2017, this webinar focused on how to use school meals (including cafeteria lunches, hot meal days, salad bars, hospitality classes, and your school’s Student Nutrition Program / breakfast program) to enable local food literacy education.

Hosted by Carolyn Webb (Sustain Ontario’s Edible Education Network), with presentations from Kim McGibbon and Alia Wurdemann Stam (Roots to Harvest), Emma Rooney (Ecosource), Kerry Greco (Cardinal Leger SS), Kaitlyn Visser and Shiba Anjum (Oakwood PS), and Lyndsay Davidson (OSNP-SWR) this webinar provides:

  • Case studies of schools in Ontario that are using more local foods in their menus and offerings, as well as meal programs that are involving local food education in their mandate.
  • Ideas for how to get students excited about local food.
  • Curriculum connections to various subject areas.
