School Description
The school currently offers a variety of food programs. Most are implemented by volunteers or staff. The community funded Food For Thought Program is a breakfast program served to all students twice per week, organized and prepared by volunteers. The hot lunch program is done by staff volunteers and is served approx. twice per month. An apple a day program has been funded by community business and individual donation, and makes apples available in each classroom daily throughout the school year. Our vision is to locate a greenhouse at Manning Elementary School to allow students the opportunity to experience the full cycle of food production. This initiative would allow students to be active participants in this process, to gain valuable life skills and lessons in food production, procurement and sustainability.
