General Information

The GROW Project is a food and garden-based school program for students in kindergarten to grade 8. The program emphasizes local community connections and in-school experiential learning, which is complimented by place-based, hands-on, outdoor education. The GROW Project aims to empower students to become leaders in building a strong, connected community around good food.

Access: Our mission is to help students understand the importance of resilient, sustainable food systems, and their role in building a strong, connected community around good food.

Connection: Students are given the opportunity to connect with the local land and build a foundation of knowledge around food systems that is grounded in food sovereignty, nourishing all people and supporting dignified access to good food.

Education: Through the GROW Project, students’ learn to understand the importance of their ecosystem and the role of everything within it, changing the way they think about where food comes from and learning how to make a difference in their community.

Resilience: The GROW Project not only builds resilience in individuals and families, but supports community belonging and wellbeing.
