General Information

The HopeTowns Initiative aims to restore the historic, cultural connection between Canada's small town heritage main streets and their surrounding agricultural watersheds through the programmatic delivery of destination experiences combining agriculture, architecture, art and hospitality. On western edge of Port Hope, HopeTowns is developing a multi-enterprise regenerative farm which will, among other initiatives, support educational programming in schools about local food production and healthy eating. In early summer, 2025, Grade 5 students from a local elementary school planted potatoes, pumpkins and squash and will come back to harvest in the fall. The goal is for them to experience of preparing and cooking this food to share with their school community. This project is in its initial stage and so HopeTowns also aims to provide curriculum resources for teachers.
