School Description
Students registered in the Nutrition course prepare and cook food to serve for free in the cafeteria. As much as possible, local food is procured for these meals and we have formed many community partnerships with organizations such as Food First NL and Fishing for Success. We started a courtyard garden in summer 2022 with three raised beds and have since expanded to 8 raised beds in the space this past year. Students harvest the food and prepare meals and snacks for anyone who would like to try it when served. We do a monthly meal or salad bar with local produce and ingredients. We have had field trips to Fishing for Success (to cod jig and take part in cultural activities) and to O’Brien’s family farm.
