School Description

Located in Albion Hills Conservation Area, EOEC is a "living laboratory" that connects youth to the land through immersive, hands-on experiences. Our mission is to foster environmental stewardship by bridging the gap between nature and nutrition through Farm-To-Table programming. Students develop food literacy skills by exploring local food sources, sustainable and Indigenous farming practices, and solutions for those with limited access to green space. Key activities include: Organic Gardening: Students engage in seasonal garden cycles, learning about soil health, biodiversity, and sustainable planting. Farm-to-Table Education: Students help harvest produce that is incorporated into snack time, highlighting the importance of local food systems. Foraging & Wild Edibles: Guided explorations teach students to identify local flora and understand traditional and Indigenous food perspectives. Ecological Footprint Impact: Our composting and vermicomposting programs show students how food waste transforms into nutrient-rich soil, completing the food cycle. By integrating food literacy into our outdoor curriculum, we empower the next generation to make informed, sustainable choices for their health and the planet.
