General Information
• Feed the Children Program – Feeding a daily, nutritious lunch to ~1,000 children in 26 Chilliwack & 2 Fraser Cascade school districts.
• Hands Up Chilliwack! Meal kit program – Providing families with all of the ingredients weekly, to make a nutritious, budget friendly meal. Includes recipe cards showing costs to replicate and YouTube videos showing preparation techniques.
• Community Roots – Community garden where members (for a small fee) can garden their own plot for the season or participate in gardening the common plot where produce goes to the community either as direct donations or through food programs. Gardeners are supported by UFV agriculture students and our organization to learn how to garden, harvest, prepare, and preserve their fruits and vegetables.
• BC Farmers’ Market Nutrition Coupon Program – Distributing coupons to individuals and families allowing them to purchase $27 worth of fruit, vegetables, meat, dairy, honey, and starter plants at the Downtown Chilliwack Community Market as well as the Sardis Eco Market. We support participants by providing volunteers to help with market purchases and transportation/delivery, where necessary, as well as with recipes and by organizing market demonstrations utilizing in season produce.
