Exploring potential to bring locally sourced food to the minds and plates of Alberta’s students!

Imagine if Alberta farmers and other local food producers provided the province’s children and youth with healthy, locally sourced food at school. As an agriculturally rich province, there is potential to connect Alberta’s students with their local food system using a Farm to School Approach, which strives to get healthy, local food in schools, support hands-on learning, and deepen schools’ connections to the local food and farming community.

Are you interested to learn about how this is happening in other parts of Canada?

Excited to explore how this can be expanded in Alberta?

Join Alberta Food Matters, along with guests Farm to Cafeteria Canada and the Public Health Association of BC, as we host an information webinar on farm to school in Canada. In this webinar, we’ll provide examples of how students are not only eating healthy local food at school,  but also learning about and engaging in food production in their local communities all across the country. We’ll also discuss  the potential to grow movement right here in Alberta so that more of our students, farmers and whole communities can experience the benefits of farm to school.
