Biography

She/her/elle

My name is Grace Masse. I am Woodland Cree originally from kisipakimak, Reindeer Lake, Barren Lands First Nation, Brochet Manitoba. I have 6 children aged 8-19 and am a single mom. I enjoy kayaking, running, hunting, harvesting and ceremony. I was teaching Cree and syllabics at high-schools for 2 years and realized that upon telling my outdoor adventures of hunting and gathering medicines that the students want to do more with the land. I am learning and the only way for me to learn is to get outside and start doing.

Grace lives and works on Treaty 1 territory, traditional territory of the Anishinaabeg, Cree, Oji-Cree, Dakota, and Dene Peoples, and on the homeland of the Métis Nation.
